Edward Said y Terry Eagleton: hacia la politización de la teoría literaria

Abstract

El presente artículo se propone como objetivo un acercamiento a la dimensión política en las teorías literarias de Edward W. Said y de Terry Eagleton. Centraremos nuestra atención en su postura ante el marxismo, ante la teoría y en dos nociones clave en sus concepciones teóricas: “la política de la forma” de Eagleton y “la estructura de actitud y referencia” de Said, puesto que la dimensión política en la obra de estos dos teóricos permite un mejor entendimiento de su significado y, a la par, valorar el aporte que estos autores han hecho a los estudios literarios. Esta aproximación permite comprobar que, para los dos, las esferas de la política y la literatura no están separadas, sino que, en definitiva, son lo mismo.

The present article aim to approach the political dimension in the literary theory of Edward W. Said and Terry Eagleton. We will focus our attention on their stance on Marxism, Theory and two keys in his literary conceptions: “the politics of the form” of Eagleton and “the structure of attitude and reference” of Said because taking in account the political dimension in the work of this two writers allows a better understanding of its meaning and value the contribution that the both have made to literary studies. Hence, for both authors, the sphere of politics and literature are not separated but, definitely, the same.
