El Trabajo de Campo Etnográfico en Salud. Una aproximación a la observación participante

Abstract

El artículo realiza una aproximación a la técnica de la observación participante y sus utilidades dentro de la investigación en salud. Se introduce el concepto de observación participante y se relaciona con el contexto de las ciencias sociales, principalmente con el trabajo de campo etnográfico. Luego se abordan algunas de las principales cuestiones metodológicas, como es la delimitación del problema de investigación, la posición del investigador en el escenario y la preparación del campo, la relación con los informantes, la utilización del lenguaje y la observación, la anotación en el cuaderno de campo y el control del rigor de la investigación y la ética.

This article is an approach to the participant observation technique and its importance concerning health research. It presents the concept of participant observation and it also relates this concept to the social science context, mainly to the ethnographic fieldwork. It also deals with some of the most important methodological questions, such as specifying the research problem, identifying the research field and defining the role of the researcher. It also tells about the relationship with the informants, the use of the language and observation, note taking, ethics and scientific rigor.
