La mujer en el teatro de Ibn Dāniyāl

Abstract

Las fuentes mamelucas nos ofrecen un cuadro vivo de la mujer, aunque no exento de contrastes. El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo traducir y estudiar la representación de los personajes femeninos en la trilogía dramática Ṭayf al-Jāyāl de Ibn Dāniyāl. Se pondrá especial atención en la figura de la alcahueta Umm Rašīd, su caracterización, voz e interacción con el sexo opuesto.

Mameluke sources provide a living image of female characters not deprived of contrasts. In this paper a translation and study of the representation of the female characters in the dramatic trilogy Ṭayf al-Jāyāl of Ibn Dāniyāl is provided, with a special focus on the figure of the go-between Umm Rašīd, her characterization, voice and interaction with the opposite sex.
