Arte y creatividad en el movimiento educativo internacional por la paz United World Colleges

Abstract

Esta tesis se centra en los aspectos artísticos y creativos del movimiento educativo internacional por la paz United World Colleges (UWC, Colegios del Mundo Unido). Este movimiento surgió a principios de los años 60 y tiene como objetivo “hacer de la educación una fuerza para unir a las personas, las naciones y las culturas por la paz y un futuro sostenible”. La investigación se aborda desde un prisma personal (al ser el autor antiguo alumno de estos centros) y desde una metodología mixta de investigación. Por un lado se utilizan los Estudios de Caso y por otro la Investigación Educativa basada en las Artes Visuales.

Los intereses principales del trabajo son averiguar la presencia y la importancia de las actividades artísticas y creativas, y los motivos que las fomentan en estos centros. De igual manera, se interesa en entender la influencia que dichas actividades ejercen en estas comunidades educativas y descubrir las repercusiones (a nivel individual y colectivo) que tienen las actividades artísticas grupales que el investigador propone, en forma de “happenings” multidisciplinares (…).

This thesis focuses on the artistic and creative aspects of the international educational movement for peace United World Colleges (UWC). This movement emerged in the early 60s and aims to “make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future”. The research is approached from a personal perspective (being the author a former student of these centers) and from a mixed research methodology. On the one hand “Case Studies” and on the other “Visual Arts based Educational Research”.

The main objective of the work is to find out the presence and importance of artistic and creative activities, and what motiviates and encourages them in these centers. Likewise, it is interested in understanding the influence that these activities have on UWC educational communities. Also to discover the impact (at individual and collective level) that the group artistic activities have in the form of multidisciplinary “happenings” proposed by the researcher (…)
