Abstract
Muchos exiliados republicanos emigraron a América Latina después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, desde Francia y por sus propios medios. Algunos se exiliaron a América por falta de trabajo en Francia, otros por miedo a una Tercera Guerra Mundial. Corrían tiempos duros en una Europa diezmada por los azotes de una guerra y por el inicio de las tensiones políticas en el concierto internacional que daría lugar a la Guerra Fría. En esta tesitura, un electricista con compromisos políticos en su tierra, y fuera de ella, decidió exiliarse a Argentina con su familia. Manuel dejó constancia de aquel transtierro en un diario de viaje, en donde se reflejaba el día a día de la muerte de una etapa y el inicio de otra.
En el país del tango, Manuel Hibernón continuó su compromiso político ayudando desde Argentina a los represaliados por el franquismo. Desde América, tanto Manuel como otros refugiados de su misma condición aportaron su particular granito de arena en la lucha contra el fascismo.
