La plagiocefalia es una condición patológica que conlleva una asimetría
craneofacial. Se caracteriza por aplanamiento occipital asimétrico y protusión
frontal ipsilateral. Frecuentemente se acompaña por asimetría facial con
desalineación de ojos y pabellones auriculares. Actualmente, existe un creciente
interés en la plagiocefalia no sinostótica debido a su alta prevalencia y a su
incidencia en aumento.
Esta tesis se centra en el análisis histológico del desarrollo del cráneo, en
los resultados de una intervención conservadora dependiente de la severidad de
la asimetría craneofacial, en el impacto del tortícolis (congénito o postural)
asociado a la plagiocefalia en el desarrollo motor, en los efectos de una
aproximación terapéutica coadyuvante basada en terapia manual y en las
repercusiones de la plagiocefalia no sinostótica en el desarrollo psicomotor,
equilibrio, destreza manual, postura y flexibilidad muscular en niños de 3-5 años.
