Abstract

La producción literaria melquita en lengua árabe, atestiguada en muestras manuscritas desde mediados del siglo VIII y finales del siglo IX, es fiel reflejo de la tradición cristiana anterior. La herencia de la Patrística se hace evidente en el campo de la exégesis, donde la comunidad melquita va a actuar de intermediaria en el legado de la actividad comentarista de los Padres griegos y siriacos, reproduciendo en árabe la actividad anteriormente realizada por éstos.

The Melkite Iiterary production in Arabic language, which is known through manuscript evid6nce since both the middle of the 8th century and the end of the 9th century, is a faithful mirror of the previous Christian literary tradition. The heritage of Patristic Iiterature is apparent in the realm of the exegesis, where the Melkite community acts as intermediary in the transfer of the commentary work done by the Greek and the Syrian Fathers, which involves translating into the Arabic language the activity previously carried out by them.
