Dos ciudades ḥammūdíes: Málaga y Ceuta

Abstract

En el primer tercio del siglo XI, los ḥammūdíes constituyeron dos taifas, la de Málaga y la de Algeciras que tuvieron vida propia y separada. La taifa califal de Málaga se sustentó sobre dos ciudades, Málaga, sede del califa, Dār al-Mamlaka de los ḥammūdíes, y Ceuta, residencia del heredero, que garantizaba la seguridad al otro lado del Estrecho y simbolizaba la verdadera identidad de esta familia. Nuestro trabajo no pretende estudiar la historia de esta taifa, sino analizar las relaciones entre ambas ciudades y el comportamiento de los distintos sectores de la población.

In the first quarter of the 11th century, the Banū Ḥammūd founded two petty kingdons in Malaga and Algeciras that had both their own and separate lives at the same time. Tbe kingdom of Malaga was based on two cities: Malaga, the capital, Dār al-Mamlaka, the caliph's seat, and Ceuta, the heir's residence that provided safety on the other side of the Gibraltar Strait and symbolized the true identity of the Banū Ḥammūd. This work does not intend to study the history of this kingdon but to analize the relationship between both cities and the conduct of different sectors of the population.
