Abstract
LA familia al-Bustānī representa un claro ejemplo de aquellas familias cristiano-maronitas que, a partir del siglo XVI, comienzan a emigrar hacia los distritos drusos de la Montaña libanesa a la
búsqueda de su promoción económica, asociándose en el laboreo de aquellas tierras o adquiriendo su compra de los notables drusos. Es una de estas familias que, a lo largo del siglo XIX, y en el proceso de transformación económica del Sām, ejemplifica la formación burguesa
del sector cristiano de la población, y de ahí, la adquisición de un status social que le permite acceder al ámbito público de la Siria decimonónica.
