The jargon of «identity» has contaminated all discourse, making a doubtful treatment of the facts and giving rise to the problem of cultural similarities and differences. The key can only be understood appropriately from an evolutionary approach. Formerly races-types were fixed, until population genetics came to the conclusion that the idea of «race» doesn’t explain anything. Now ethnicities or ethnic identities are the important terms. Do these terms have a more scientifi c foundation than the others? A critical examination of the concept of «ethnicity», through its different theories, demonstrates that it doesn’t fit any coherent description. The systematic and evolutionary study of sociocultural differences points towards the conclusion that ethnicity does not exist, exactly in the same way that the notion of race between the human beings is not a scientific concept.es_ES
