Al-Andalus en la historiografía francesa: un breve balance de la cuestión

Abstract

Evolución historiográfica de los estudios dedicados en francés al mundo andalusí desde el siglo XIX hasta nuestros días. Se pueden distinguir tres momentos: primero, en relación con la conquista del África del Norte, existe un gran movimiento de traducciones de lostextos árabes referidos al Occidente musulmán y un interés creciente por al-Andalus marcado por las obras de E. Lévi-Provençal, que se desarrolla en los años sesenta con la independencia de los países del Magreb. Luego y durante más de treinta años, se observa una multitud de trabajos y tesis doctorales dedicados a la historia y a la arqueología de al-Andalus. Finalmente evoluciona hacia un nuevo descubrimiento del Mediterráneo occidental y del Magreb, fase en la cual los estudios dedicados a al-Andalus empiezan a reducirse, sobre todo al nivel arqueológico por parte de un contexto económico difícil.

Three different periods can be outlined within the French historiographic evolution of studies focusing on al-Andalus from the 19th century to the present: first, in the 1960s, with the independence of Maghreb countries, there was a big movement of translations of Arabic texts related to the conquest of North Africa and the Moslem West, as well as an increasing interest in al-Andalus, marked by the works of E.
