La reconstrucción de Munich, tradición y renovación

Abstract

Tras la 2ª Guerra Mundial Múnich fue el ejemplo donde mejor se manifestó el orgullo de las ciudades alemanas por recuperar su perdido esplendor monumental. Múnich, con su concepción conservadora y ciertamente orgullosa de su pasado clasicista, se esforzó por recuperar afanosamente su espacio urbano heredado. Era el argumento más sólido donde poder desplegar, en los años siguientes, las numerosas intervenciones que hicieron posible la recuperación de la imagen de su patrimonio monumental. Eso sí, sólo la imagen, pues este artículo nos desvela cómo se produjo la reconstrucción formalista de sus principales monumentos, pues las bombas arrasaron con ellos y no había datos suficientes para su reconstrucción filológica. Aun así se dieron muchas interesantes intervenciones de rehabilitación y reconstrucción que hacen de Múnich un punto de referencia en la reconstrucción de posguerra.

After World War 2 Munich was the example which best expressed the pride of the German cities to regain their lost glory monumental. Munich, with its conservative conception and certainly proud of its classical past, struggled to regain its urban space busily inherited. It was the strongest argument where to deploy, in the following years, the numerous interventions that made possible the recovery of the image of its monuments. But only the image, as this article reveals how formal reconstruction produced its main monuments, explosives ripped through it to them and there were insufficient data for philological reconstruction. Yet there were many interesting rehabilitation and reconstruction interventions that make Munich a landmark in postwar reconstruction.
