Algunas notas sobre el comercio local granadino en el siglo XVIII

Abstract

El artículo representa ante todo el interés por aprovechar las posibilidades que el Censo de Floridabianca de 1787 ofrece por su peculiar elaboración, que hace de él un material serial cercano ya a las oportunidades de trabajo e interpretación que ofrece la era estadística. En base a este hecho, y obviando algunos problemas metodológicos de la fuente, se ha efectuado una distribución de sus núcleos censados, dentro de un marco comarcal circunscrito al mundo agrario como elemento básico, para efectuar un análisis de la provincia de Granada. Ello permite conocer tanto la realidad demográfica de entonces como presentar un concreto entorno que sirva de punto de partida firme a las meras estimaciones con las que suele matizarse buena parte de la evolución decimonónica. En consecuencia, se han homogeneizado criterios básicos que a su vez permitan su utilización posterior en investigaciones de amplio contenido, ya sean históricas o geográficas, para lo cual ese entorno humano se analiza a partir de enfoques concretos que hacen referencia a las estructuras de su poblamiento, de edades y de sexos y a la nupcialidad. Se obtienen de este modo los respectivos índices y tasas que reflejan aquella realidad demográfica y que explican su evolución inmediatamente anterior a la realización del Censo, así como sus posibles cambios posteriores en base a la coyuntura demográfica y por consiguiente también social, económica y política.

The article centres on the possibilities which arise out of a study of the Floridabianca Census of 1787 for the interpretation of the data contained within it. An analisys is made of the distribution of the nucleus of the Province of Granada which appear in the census, taking the township in rural Granada as the basic unit. This allows for both a greater understanding of the demographic reality of the time and the establishment of a firm starting point against which to contrast what are very often merely rough estimates of the evolution of the population during the XIXth century. The concrete analysis of the structures of settlement, age, sex and nuptiality provides standardised basic criteria which will possibly be of use in further wide-scale historical and geographical research. The rates and indices of this demographic moment are deduce, thus providing and interpretation of the evolution of the population inmediately before the Census was carried out, and also and indication of possible later alterations to the socio-economic and political reality of the time.
