Agua y regadío en la Alpujarra almeriense (siglos XVI y XVII)

Abstract

El artículo estudia la dinámica seguida por el regadío de la taha de Berja en los siglos XVI y XVII a partir del análisis espacial de la red de acequias ofrecida por el Libro de Apeo y Repartimiento y las actas del cabildo virgitano del siglo siguiente. Se trata pues de ofrecer un análisis diacrónico durante siglo y medio sobre la problemática que ofrece el riego dentro de la comunidad campesina, valorando los avances y mejoras de todo tipo producidas a partir de 1575.

This article studies the dynamics of the irrigation of the Berja region (Almería, Spain) during the 16th and 17th centuries. The study is based on the spatial analysis of the network of irrigation canals described by the Libro de apeo y repartimiento (book of surveys and distribution) and the acts of the Cabildo Virgitano town council. The irrigation problems facing the peasant community are examined from a diachronic standpoint, and the progress and improvements seen after 1575 are evaluated.
