Asociacionismo e identidad cultural en un contexto migratorio: el caso de las asociaciones españolas en Hamburgo (Alemania)

Abstract

La llegada de los emigrantes españoles al país extranjero se caracterizaba por un sentimiento de soledad, problemas de idioma, desubicación, etc. Ante esta situación hay una necesidad de buscar la compañía de otros compatriotas, que compartiesen sus mismas necesidades, sus sueños y los recuerdos de una cultura común. Esta necesidad se fortalecía con el deseo de transmitir a sus hijos e hijas unas tradiciones culturales vivas y una forma de mantener el mito del retorno. De ahí que nos planteásemos como objetivo para nuestro estudio “Describir y analizar la función de transmisión cultural de las diferentes asociaciones españolas”. El estudio se ha llevado a cabo en Hamburgo (Alemania), en él hemos realizado entrevistas en profundidad a personas de las distintas asociaciones e instituciones que trabajan con la población inmigrante española.

The arrival of the Spanish immigrants to any foreign country is characterized by a feeling of solitude, language and culture problems, etc. In this situation it is necessary to seek relationships with other Spanish people who have the same necessities, dreams and memories of a supposed common land. This necessity is also, a way to keep alive for their children some cultural traditions, and a style to think on the return myth. For this reason we take as objective for our study “to describe and analyze the function of cultural transmission of the different Spanish associations”. This paper has been carried out in Hamburg (Germany). In that city we have interviewed deeply members of the different associations and institutions who work with the Spanish immigrant population
