Los significados del patrimonio arqueológico prehispánico en el proceso de construcción de identidades en la Costa Oriental del lago Maracaibo

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo se desprende o forma parte de una investigación que tuvo como propósito realizar una aproximación a los sitios de poblamiento prehispánico, sus características y su influencia en la Costa Oriental del lago de Maracaibo, Venezuela, sitios de orden e interés arqueológico que asumen una cualidad patrimonial. La investigación en general asumió el método documental para abordar las distintas perspectivas. También se analizó bibliografía seleccionada en relación a la temática arqueológica y de patrimonio cultural. De igual manera se hizo uso de técnicas como la entrevista en profundidad, así como aquellas propias del método arqueológico en las actividades de campo a fin de ubicar y registrar los yacimientos a lo largo y ancho del municipio Miranda del estado Zulia. Se concluye que existe una numerosa e importante evidencia material del poblamiento prehispánico en todo el municipio.

This research arises from or is part of an investigation that was intended to provide an approach to pre-Hispanic settlement sites, their characteristics, and their influence on the eastern coast of Maracaibo Lake, Venezuela, places of archaeological order and interest that assume a the quality of heritage. This research, in general, adopted the documentary method to address the different perspectives. The carefully chosen bibliography was also analysed in relation to the subject of archaeological and cultural heritage. Similarly, this research made use of such techniques as the in-depth interview as well as those inherent in the method in archaeological field work in order to locate and document the sites the length and breadth of the municipality of Miranda in the state of Zulia. We conclude that there is a ample and important material evidence for a pre-Hispanic settlement throughout the municipality.
