To bear in mind the defence of Numancia, as late as the early twenty-first century, is simply disheartening, if not, outrageous. Amazingly, we have to defend the obvious. Nevertheless, this is the situation prompted by the Castilla y Leon Government and the Soria and Garray city councils initiatives. Nowadays it is not the Roman legions, but a new iron, glass and concrete siege that threatens Numancia. Three massive urban plans projected in its environment will permanently alter a unique archaeological, historical, literary and natural heritage. [1]
