Los graffiti árabes del aljibe S4 situado en el subsuelo del claustro de la catedral de Toledo

Abstract

Las excavaciones de la Catedral de Toledo han permitido conocer las estructuras preexistentes situadas bajo el edificio de la gran Catedral gótica construida en el siglo XIII. Los hallazgos en la zona del Claustro han ofrecido información sobre la época islámica y sobre la Mezquita Aljama: restos del gran muro norte de la sala de oración, aparecido bajo la Puerta de Santa Catalina y fechado en época taifa por los materiales asociados, y dos aljibes situados bajo la zona sur del Claustro, cuya cronología del siglo XI ha quedado confirmada por los grafitos árabes existentes en sus paredes y cuyo estudio constituye el objetivo de este artículo.

The excavations of the Cathedral of Toledo have showed the pre-existing structures situated under the building of the Gothic Cathedral built in the 13th century. The findings in the zone of the Cloister offer information about the Islamic period and the Friday Mosque: rests of the north wall of the room of prayer appeared under the Door of Santa Catalina and dated in the taifas period by the materials associated, and two cisterns placed under the south zone of the Cloister, their dating in the 11th century having been confirmed by the Arab graphites in their walls which are analyzed in this paper.
