Identidad y lucha. Los Purépechas. Entrevista a Rodolfo Sandoval, secretario general del Consejo Supremo Purépecha, y a Julio Alvar, etnólogo

Abstract

La entrevista a tres versa sobre la población purépecha en México. Actualmente está en parte dispersa y abandona su lengua, a consecuencia de la pérdida de las tierras y la emigración. No obstante, intentan conservar su identidad como pueblo indígena, centrada en su modo peculiar de celebrar ciertas fiestas. Al mismo tiempo tratan de fortalecer su propia organización a nivel local y la coordinación general del Consejo supremo purépecha.

The Purepecha people are currently partly dispersed and abandoning their language, as a consequence of the loss of lands and immigration. Nevertheless, they try to conserve their identity as indigenous people, an identity centered on their peculiar way of celebrating certain festivities. At the same time they try to strengthen their own organization at the local level and thrgouh the general coordination of the Purepecha Supreme Council.
