Antropología y tercermundismo. Una propuesta de ruptura

Abstract

El texto de este artículo fue presentado como ponencia en el III Congreso de la Federación Internacional de Estudios sobre América Latina y el Caribe. State University of New York at Buffalo, Amherst. Nueva York, septiembre de 1987. La tesis del autor es que el antropólogo del Tercer mundo debe tener una actitud honesta, de solidaridad hacia la mayoría de su país, si no quiere ser cómplice de la opresión existente. Esa actitud comprometida debe traducirse en la teoría y en la práctica.

The text of this article was presented as a report in the III Congress of the International Federation of Studies about Latin America and the Caribbean, which took place at State University of New York at Buffalo, in Amherst, New York, September, 1987. The author's thesis is that the anthropologist of the Third World should have an honest attitude of solidarity toward the majority of his country’s people if he doesn't want to be an accomplice to current oppression. This attitude, once committed, would be translated in both theory and practice.
