La experiencia simbólica de la Semana Santa. Funcionamiento y utilidad

Abstract

Frente a las experiencias racionales y técnicas que predominan y casi se han presentado como las únicas reales y útiles en la cultura, se analiza aquí un caso representativo en la cultura andaluza de otro tipo de experiencias que atañen a los individuos y a la sociedad y que forman parte de la cultura. Las llamamos simbólicas. Se afirma en el artículo su utilidad o su eficacia en la gestión de esos ámbitos de la vida-muerte, violencia-paz del individuo y de la sociedad ante los que lo racional-técnico claudica en la capacidad de respuesta total. Se presentan también los mecanismos que hacen posible esta experiencia.

In light of the predominating rational and technical facets of our culture, that are almost presented as the only real and useful aspects, we analyze a representative case in Andalusian culture of another type of cultural experience, one that concerns the individual and society. We call these experiences symbolic. The article affirms their utility or effectiveness with regard to the concepts of life and death, peace and violence of the individual and the society, in the face of which the rational-technical focus is incapable of a response. The mechanisms which make this experience possible are also presented.
