Polisemia u homonimia: estudio del verbo ἰάπτω a través de las fuentes literarias y lexicográficas

Abstract

En el ámbito de la lexicografía moderna, existe una falta de consenso sobre la semántica del verbo ἰάπτω y si ha de considerarse un verbo polisémico o presenta homonimia. Esta discrepancia, como veremos en el artículo, no es exclusiva de los modernos diccionarios, sino que se origina como consecuencia de las diferentes interpretaciones existentes dentro de las fuentes lexicográficas tardoantiguas y bizantinas. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis semántico exhaustivo del verbo ἰάπτω, examinando tanto su uso en la literatura griega como las interpretaciones de antiguos lexicógrafos y exégetas griegos. El propósito del estudio es, en primer lugar, determinar las acepciones léxicas que este verbo expresa; en segundo lugar, establecer de qué modo debería ser conceptualizado, incorporando, cuando sea necesario, el marco predicativo; y, por último, esclarecer esta problemática sobre su concepción como verbo polisémico u homonímico.

In the field of modern lexicography, there is a lack of consensus regarding the semantics of the verb ἰάπτω and whether it should be considered a polysemous verb or presents homonymy. This discrepancy, as we will see in the article, is not exclusive to modern dictionaries but originates as a result of different interpretations within late antique and Byzantine lexicographical sources. The present study aims to conduct a comprehensive semantic analysis of the verb ἰάπτω, examining both its usage in Greek literature and the interpretations of ancient Greek lexicographers and exegetes. The purpose of the study is, first, to determine the lexical meanings expressed by this verb; second, to establish how it should be conceptualized, incorporating, when necessary, the predicative framework; and finally, to clarify the issue concerning its conception as a polysemous or homonymous verb.
