The history of the edition of Hernán Ruiz de Villegas’ Latin works (1510-1572) presents special circumstances. Since the discover of the manuscript by Dean Martí in Valencia until its publication in Venice passed more than 30 years. The aim of this study is to analyse and clarify the main problems, vicissitudes and delays suffered by this edition, taking as basis for its reconstruction the epistolary interchange between the main people who took part of this editorial project (Manuel Martí, Juan Basilio Castelví and Gregorio Mayans) and the news published about it, in order to stablish the timeline of the convulsive history of this Venetian edition.
