Jokes about animals in Spanish and Russian use different and common ways of creating comic effect. Polysemy, euphemisms, antithesis, absurdity and absurd logic, effect of unjustified expectancy, metaphors and metonymies, unsuccessful communication and wrong interpretation of context are used in Russian and Spanish jokes.
