dc.description.abstractOne of the genres of contemporary urban folklore is the joke. Each joke represents the situation which can use either a deviation from social canons causing comic effect or linguistic joke. The addresser tries to prepare the addressee for the joke; he chooses attitude and style in which it will be told. The using of a joke in a speech connected with its functions: entertaining, thematic, textual, argumentative and veiling function. Jokes constitute a special urban society protest against social, economic, political and other problems. Jokes about animals in Spanish and Russian use different and common ways of creating comic effect. Polysemy, euphemisms, antithesis, absurdity and absurd logic, effect of unjustified expectancy, metaphors and metonymies, unsuccessful communication and wrong interpretation of context are used in Russian and Spanish jokes. Precedent phenomena are very frequent elements in Russian jokes.es_ES
