BELLEZA en y para la Huerta/BEAUTY in and for la Huerta

Abstract

Con frecuencia se considera que hablar de la belleza de las cosas aporta poco más que la descripción de una experiencia subjetiva y placentera, difícilmente comunicable y carente de valor cognitivo. Desde esta perspectiva, juzgar la belleza del paisaje de la huerta de Murcia parecería aportar escasa luz sobre sus valores específicos. Sin embargo, apoyándose en las fotografías de Zsolt Bátori pertenecientes a la serie La huerta, este trabajo sostiene que la apreciación de la belleza no se reduce a una experiencia meramente subjetiva, sino que constituye una dimensión estética fundamental con una contribución relevante al bienestar y la felicidad de las personas. Asimismo, se argumenta que, en el marco contemporáneo del diseño del paisaje, la experiencia de la belleza puede desempeñar un papel significativo en la promoción de una agenda de sostenibilidad medioambiental, favoreciendo así la protección y conservación de este singular entorno rural murciano.

It is often assumed that speaking about the beauty of things contributes little more than the description of a subjective and pleasurable experience, one that is difficult to communicate and lacks cognitive value. From this perspective, judging the beauty of the landscape of the huerta of Murcia would seem to offer limited insight into its specific values. However, drawing on the photographs by Zsolt Bátori from the series La huerta, this paper argues that the appreciation of beauty is not merely a subjective experience, but rather a fundamental aesthetic dimension that makes a significant contribution to human well-being and happiness. Furthermore, it is argued that, within contemporary landscape design discourse, the experience of beauty can play an important role in promoting an agenda of environmental sustainability, thereby encouraging the protection and conservation of this distinctive rural landscape of Murcia.
