La re-centralización de la dimensión social como cuestión clave para la implementación de una sociedad europea más inclusiva

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende ofrecer una visión general en torno a la importancia de re-colocar en primera línea la dimensión social en el marco de la Unión Europea como antídoto para consolidar el proyecto de integración europea. Si bien es cierto que la cuestión social ha estado presente en el proyecto europeo desde el mismo momento de su creación, con el devenir de los años y junto con los instrumentos ya existentes, recobra fuerza la idea de lograr la verdadera implementación del pilar europeo de derechos sociales, así como el pleno despliegue de su efectividad. Con el pilar europeo se nos brinda una oportunidad más para volver a editar o re-definir los contornos de una Europa social, adaptada a los nuevos tiempos, como vía preferente para favorecer la convergencia socio-económica y restaurar la confianza en el proyecto común europeo.

The present work tries to offer a general vision about the importance of placing the social dimension in the front line of the European Union as an antidote to consolidate the project of European integration. Although it is true that the social issue has been present in the European project from the very moment of its creation, over the years and together with the existing instruments, the idea of achieving the true implementation of the European pillar of social rights, as well as the full display of their effectiveness. With the European pillar, we are given one more opportunity to re-edit or redefine the contours of a social Europe, adapted to the new times, as a preferred way to promote socio-economic convergence and restore confidence in the common European project.
