La utilización de las fuentes documentales en el tratado técnico De scientiis mathematicis de G. J. Vossius: a propósito del pasaje Voss. math. 38.7

Abstract

Este trabajo versa sobre el tratamiento de las fuentes documentales utilizadas por G. J. Vossius en la composición del capítulo 38, parágrafo 7, de su tratado De scientiis mathematicis. El célebre polímata holandés no suele citar de primera mano ni las obras ni los autores mencionados en este pasaje. Y, así, de una parte, la cita del Comentario al Génesis de Orígenes, por intermediación de la Preparación evangélica de Eusebio de Cesarea, está sacada del Comentario de Léonard Coqueau al tratado agustiniano De Civitate Dei; y, de otra, las respectivas menciones de la Narratio Iosephi de Orígenes, el tratado de Plotino titulado Vtrum stellae aliquid efficiant y el correspondiente pasaje de la Vita Plotini de Porfirio proceden todas ellas del De fato de Julio Sirenio.

This paper deals with the documentary sources' management shown by G. J. Vossius' De scientiis mathematicis, chapter 38, paragraph 7. The well-known Dutch polymath doesn't usually quote directly the authors or the works mentioned on this passage. And so, on the one hand, the quotation of Origenes' Commentary to Genesis, by means of Eusebius Caesariensis' Praeparatio evangelica, has been taken out from Léonard Coqueau's Commentary to Augustinus' treatise De Civitate Dei; but, on the other hand, the respective quotations of Origenes' Narratio Iosephi, Plotin's treatise entitled Vtrum stellae aliquid efficiant and the passage of Porphyrius' Vita Plotini come all them together from Iulius Sirenius' De fato.
