Una muestra del habla de Olocau del Rey, enclave lingüístico-administrativo del noroeste valenciano

Abstract

Olocau del Rey constituye un singular enclave lingüístico-administrativo del noroeste valenciano, en el límite de la comarca de Els Ports (provincia de Castellón) con la provincia de Teruel. Se ofrece en este artículo una muestra del habla castellano-aragonesa de la localidad, en continuidad con los vecinos pueblos turolenses, y también de distintos elementos de penetración del valenciano, que es de uso general en el resto de la comarca. Tras una justificación inicial, se distribuyen y analizan los materiales recolectados en la secciones siguientes: Fonética, Morfosintaxis, Léxico, Onomástica (nombres de masías, otros topónimos, sobrenombres colectivos), Dictados tópicos y Refranes (del calendario y meteorológicos, así como algunos de molde valenciano o catalán).

Olocau del Rey is a particularly interesting linguistic and administrative enclave in north-west Valencia, on the border between the area of Els Ports (province of Castellón) and the province of Teruel. In this article, we offer a sample of the Castilian-Aragonese speech of the locality, a continuation of that of neighbouring places in Teruel, and also draw attention to various importations from Valencian, which is in general use in the rest of the area. After an initial explanation of the motivation for the work, the materials are analysed and sorted into the following sections: Phonetics, Morphosyntax, Lexicon, Onomastics (names of farmsteads, other place names, collective nicknames, Proverbs (about the calendar and the weather, plus a handful of the Valencian or Catalan variety).
