El arte mudéjar. En la frontera estética

Abstract

A lo largo de la historia, las fronteras se han entendido como fisuras, espacios de separación y enfrentamiento entre sociedades y culturas; el lugar donde aparece definida la figura, peyorativa y excluyente, del “otro”. Esta fácil explicación hace aguas con frecuencia y, hoy día, puntos de vista diversos coinciden en concebir las fronteras como lugares permeables, como líneas de contactos intensos que han generado intercambios positivos e influencias que han construido nuestras identidades; definiendo valores de alteridad que parten del mayor conocimiento, respeto a las creencias, acercamiento, diálogo y entendimiento. En este contexto, el arte mudéjar en Andalucía sería una de esas fronteras de intercambios positivos.

Throughout history, borders have been understood as fissures, spaces of separation and confrontation between societies and cultures; the place where the pejorative and exclusionary figure of the "other" is defined. This simple explanation often fails, and today, diverse points of view agree in conceiving borders as permeable places, as lines of intense contact that have generated positive exchanges and influences that have built our identities; defining values ​​of otherness that stem from greater knowledge, respect for beliefs, rapprochement, dialogue, and understanding. In this context, Mudejar art in Andalusia would be one of those borders of positive exchanges.
