Retablos novohispanos: diseño y proyección

Abstract

En este texto se analiza la evolución del retablo novohispano a lo largo de la época virreinal, desde los primeros retablos en conventos dedicados a la catequización de los naturales hasta los grandes proyectos de las capillas de la catedral metropolitana y las realizaciones del siglo XVIII como Tepozotlán y Taxco, relacionados con los grandes escultores/empresarios de la época.

This text analyzes the evolution of the New Spanish altarpiece throughout the viceregal era, from the first altarpieces in convents dedicated to the catechization of the natives to the great projects of the chapels of the metropolitan cathedral and the 18th-century achievements such as Tepozotlán and Taxco, related to the great sculptors/entrepreneurs of the time.
