El revolucionario corrupto en la novela cubana: Personas decentes (2022) de Leonardo Padura

Abstract

La figura del revolucionario corrupto se caracteriza por la traición a los ideales de la revolución en la que había participado, el abuso del poder y la corrupción moral y política una vez que alcanza un puesto de funcionario público del estado. Este personaje, al integrarse en el sistema contra el que lucha, termina por reproducir sus dinámicas en lugar de cambiarlo desde dentro. En el presente artículo, a partir del estudio de la novela Personas decentes (2022) de Leonardo Padura, analizo el arquetipo del revolucionario corrupto atendiendo al contexto histórico de Cuba y cómo los cambios políticos y sociales han influido en su creación. El análisis de personajes constata que son un reflejo de la sociedad cubana. Como conclusión, ofrezco una reflexión sobre la relevancia del arquetipo del revolucionario corrupto en la actualidad y la llamada literatura del desencanto.

The figure of the corrupt revolutionary is characterized by betrayal of the ideals of the revolution in which he had participated, abuse of power and moral and political corruption once he reaches a position as a public official of the state. This character, by integrating himself into the system against which he is fighting, ends up reproducing its dynamics instead of changing it from within. In this article, based on the study of the novel Personas decentes (2022) by Leonardo Padura, I analyze the archetype of the corrupt revolutionary, taking into account the historical context of Cuba and how political and social changes have influenced its creation. The analysis of the characters shows that they are a reflection of Cuban society and its struggle against corruption. In conclusion, I offer a reflection on the relevance of the archetype of the corrupt revolutionary today.
