Taking into account recent developments in European guidelines for language teaching and learning, particularly with regard to the inclusion of mediation and online activities, this study investigates the integration of skills and competences outlined in regional curricula for language education in primary and secondary schools. Specifically, the research examines how teachers implement, assess, and adapt activities to develop receptive, productive, interactive, and mediation skills, alongside promoting language use and intercultural understanding. This investigation combines quantitative and qualitative data collected through a survey of fifty-three primary and secondary school teachers. Positive findings include the use of diverse materials and innovative strategies, particularly in the treatment of receptive skills and interculturality. The study also identified important challenges, especially in the areas of mediation, online interaction, and assessment practices. The study concludes that specific teacher training in mediation techniques and digital tools may help overcome these challenges and enhance competence-based language education.es_ES
