Lo siniestro en el espacio doméstico. Encuadres y relaciones visuales en la creación de narrativas de suspense

Abstract

En esta exploración se pretende analizar la construcción de encuadres cinematográficos en narrativas de suspense, entendiendo cuál es el rol del espacio en la construcción de lo siniestro, centrando la atención en el espacio fílmico y no tanto en la historia relatada, o la caracterización de los personajes. La investigación se sitúa dentro del tema de la comunicación visual, concretamente sobre la construcción del imaginario arquitectónico colectivo a través de las artes visuales. El objetivo de esta investigación es identificar patrones, relaciones y características espaciales comunes en las imágenes analizadas, que permitan desarrollar metodologías de análisis y pautas visuales en la creación de narrativas de suspense a través del espacio doméstico. Se proponen inicialmente tres películas de estudio, The Shining (Stanley Kubrick, 1980), Verónica (Paco Plaza, 2017) y Suspiria (Luca Guadagnino, 2017), con la voluntad de entenderlas individualmente, generar comparativas entre ellas y aplicar criterios de análisis parecidos en otras películas.

The object of this exploration is to analyse the construction of cinematic images in suspense narratives, revealing what’s the role of the space in the construction of the sinister, focusing the attention in the filmic space and not in the story or the characters. The investigation finds itself within the theme of visual communication, specifically about the construction of the collective architectonic imaginary through the visual arts. The goal of this research is to identify patterns, visual relations and common spatial characteristics in the analysed images, in order to develop an analytical methodology to understand the visual patterns in the creation of suspense narratives in domestic space. We propose to start with three movies, The Shining (Stanley Kubrick, 1980), Verónica (Paco Plaza, 2017) and Suspiria (Luca Guadagnino, 2017), with the aim of understanding them individually, create comparatives between them and apply the same analysis criteria in other films.
