Abstract

La novela de Carmen Laforet ha sido estudiada casi siempre desde un enfoque biográfico. La mujer nueva (1955) es un caso paradigmático ya que nace de la conversión religiosa de la autora en 1951. La coincidencia entre vida y obra es rastreable, pero ¿es posible ampliar sus lecturas y, por lo tanto, profundizar en su conocimiento literario? Este artículo realiza un estudio crítico y teórico de La mujer nueva a la luz de los géneros literarios. En primer lugar, su relación con la novela de tesis, pero también con otros géneros como la confesión, la novela existencial y la anti-novela. Además, profundiza en el estudio de la propia novela de tesis, explorando sus características principales. En resumen, se extraen y se analizan los principales rasgos de cada género en La mujer nueva y se reflexiona sobre el propio concepto de género y cómo condiciona la lectura de una obra literaria.
