Discursos patrimoniales en la revista Arquitectura y la construcción de un relato histórico nacional

Abstract

En Uruguay, en las primeras décadas del siglo XX, el patrimonio, tanto material como inmaterial, adquirió una significativa relevancia como soporte simbólico para la creación de una narrativa histórica nacional. Este artículo se enfoca en el análisis, entre 1914 y 1950, de la revista Arquitectura publicada por la Sociedad de Arquitectos del Uruguay (SAU), y su contribución a la conceptualización del patrimonio y la historia de la arquitectura nacional. En un contexto de profundos cambios técnicos y formales, las revistas de arquitectura desempeñaron un papel crucial en la promoción de la conciencia sobre el patrimonio arquitectónico y su influencia en la identidad nacional. La elección de Arquitectura como fuente permite comprender cómo esta tendencia contribuyó a la construcción ideológica y su impacto en la identidad y la memoria. Además, se analiza cómo este enfoque ideológico respaldó el discurso de la SAU y los arquitectos asociados.

In Uruguay, during the early decades of the 20th century, both tangible and intangible heritage gained significant relevance as a symbolic foundation for the creation of a national historical narrative. This article focuses on the analysis, between 1914 and 1950, of the magazine Arquitectura published by the Society of Architects of Uruguay (SAU), and its contribution to the conceptualization of national architectural heritage and history. In a context of profound technical and formal changes, architectural magazines played a pivotal role in promoting awareness of architectural heritage and its influence on national identity. The choice of Arquitectura as a source enables us to comprehend how this trend contributed to ideological construction and its impact on identity and memory. Additionally, the analysis delves into how this ideological approach supported the discourse of the SAU and affiliated architects.
