Territorial organisation, irrigation and religious space in the islamic kingdom of Granada. The case of the village of acequias

Abstract

Acequias is a small town located in the southern part of Granada, in the region of Valle de Lecrín (Spain). Taking this Andalusi location as example, this paper will show how its medieval irrigation system defined the whole settlement, connecting very diverse spheres such as its territory, urban distribution, street allocation, religious spaces and even its toponyms.
