The Effects Of Social Media Networking On Student Academic Performances: An Investigatory Study
Babaran, Nilda O.
The media constantly reminds us that we are in the "selfie" generation and should capitalize on it.
This is an exploratory study which was conducted to determine the impact of social networking on
the academic performance of first-year students. The respondents were chosen at random using
Slovin's formula (301 out of 1,223 freshmen). The results were obtained using the t-test for
independent samples. This survey concluded that everyone uses portable devices and smart phones
to access the internet. Pearson's Coefficient of Correlation demonstrates the association between SNS
visits and academic performance of students in a particular year. The significant majority of
respondents used Facebook and YouTube at least twice a week and are also significant factor in
students’ scholastic performance. The study met students’ needs especially academic enforcement
that would always redound to them.

The Ecosystem of Online Learning in the Philippine Setting: A Case of Pangasinan State University

The Ecosystem of Online Learning in the Philippine Setting: A Case of Pangasinan State University
Camara, Jun S.
This study aimed to assess the initial implementation of the Flexible Learning Modality of Pangasinan
State University Lingayen Campus during the School Year 2020-2021. It explored on the issues and
challenges faced by both teachers and students during flexible instruction. Using extracts from the
responses of teachers (n=123) and students (6370) in the survey questionnaire, the findings showed
that an unstable, weak and poor internet connection and no comfortable teaching and learning spaces
at home appear to pose as greatest barriers for online learning to both the faculty and students.
Further, the study noted that PSU was quick to implement an online learning platform but found that
the gadgets available for use by a number of the respondents could not run the app or at least run its
full features, and which led to another challenge found on the difficulty to download teaching and
learning resources using the software. The researchers concluded that the PSU Lingayen Campus was
prepared in aspects under its control including provision of and orientation to online platforms, and
plans to provide printed guides, but have an understandable lacking on challenges met including
teaching and learning spaces, poor internet connection, and the capacity to purchase mobile load as
means of students to attend classes online. The researchers recommend periodic assessment of the
PSU’s policies for Flexible Learning to provide continued and improved service delivery for both the
faculty and students.
This is a funded study by the researcher granted by the Pangasinan State University through BOR No. 158, s.
2020 under the title ‘Implementation of Flexible Learning in PSU Lingayen Campus’.

Development of Interpretation Skills in Future Escort Interpreters for Work in International Tourist Activity
Dolynskiy, Ievgen V.; Dolynska, Olesia O.; Kharchenko, Tetiana H.; Kravchenko, Odarka O.; Skril, Iryna V.
The rapid development of international cooperation and interethnic contacts entails the need to improve training
in the field of tourism, including training of escort interpreters. It is known that escort interpreters must not only
have skills and abilities, but also constantly improve their knowledge of foreign languages. Thus, the problem of
optimizing the development of translation competence in escort interpreters is gaining importance. The aim of
the study is to substantiate the need to optimize the development of translation competence in escort interpreters
to work in international tourism. The article involved the following methods: theoretical review and analysis of
domestic and foreign literature on the problem of research, pedagogical observation and generalization of the
experience of training escort interpreters in universities. It was found that optimization of translation
competence in escort interpreters will be more effective in implementing the author’s model and methodology
presented in the professional. The theoretical significance of this article is that the theory and methodology of
vocational education identified and established the content of translation competence and a model for
optimizing its development. The practical significance lies in the focus on optimizing the translation competence
in translation guides. Relevant methods and programmes have been identified, which provide for development
and application in practice of professionally oriented language situations in improvement of foreign language
skills. The results indicate the effectiveness of established models and methods of optimizing development of
translation competence in escort interpreters to work in international tourism based on the improvement of
foreign language skills.

Rope Skipping As A Means Of Increasing Students' Physical Activity
Shkola, Olena; Andriushchenko, Tetiana; Zhamardiy, Valeriy; Dubovoi, Oleksandr; Andreiev, Pavlo
The article shows the use of a rope as a type of physical activity that is suitable for both boys and girls.
She also develops all physical qualities. The aim of the research is to determine the influence of the
means of jumping rope on the physical fitness of senior pupils. Research methods: analysis of special
and scientific literature on the research topic; pedagogical observation of the learning process;
pedagogical experiment; pedagogical testing of the physical qualities of high school students;
methods of statistical data processing - for mathematical processing of the research results. The study
involved 70 boys and 75 girls in grades 10-11. The results of testing physical readiness indices indicate
a significant improvement in the development of physical qualities of students in experimental
groups under the influence of jumping rope. This means that the rope can be recommended for use in
the process of physical education of high school students. The study proposed to use skipping in
various forms of physical education for senior pupils: at physical education lessons according to the
variable module "Skipping", in different parts of physical education lessons according to other
variable modules ("Athletics", "Football", Volleyball "), in independent lessons , on rolling breaks,
sports entertainment, competitions. And the use of three groups of exercises with a rope according to
the degree of difficulty in various forms of training contributes to the increase in the physical fitness
of students.
