The present study analyzes the names which were used 10 denote the Iberian Peninsula (Tarshish, 'Aspamia', Sefarad) in the Jewish tradition and literature. Special emphasis is placed on the contexts in which these place names were used, their semantic evolution, and their role as a source of medieval myths regarding the origin of Jewish communities in Spain. Ancient and "modern" myths of the earliest Spanish-Jewish diaspora are discussed.

Dramatis personae en La-yĕšarim Tĕhillah de Mošeh Hayyim Luzzatto
Varela, E.
When Moseh Hayyim Luzzatto wrote his allegorical drama La-yĕšarim tehillah, takes up the tradition of the Christian auto and while conserving its structure he fills it, so to speak, with quite a different theology, that's why the dramatis personae don't fill the role of the traditional allegorical protagonist: the only character who is really alive is the antagonist, paradoxically, deserves rather to be called the protagonist. But this ambiguous classification (antagonist/protagonist) is inadmissible from the literary point of view.

A todas ellas atribuye propiedades astrológicas. The Keter Malkut (Royal Crown) of Ibn Gabirol not only is a praise of God or a poem that presents the problem of the human predicament translated into Neoplatonic psychology; it is also an introduccion to Neoplatonic metaphysics and the Ptolemaic cosmology. The 2nd Section (centos X-XXV) is a description of the scheme of the creation, beginning with the sub-lunary sphere up to the Throne of God, proceeding through the other spheres. All of them have astrological propensities. The astrological propensities in the chapter are of interest, because Maimomides rejected these opinions, as we can see in some of his works such as the Moreh Nebukim.
