características de cada caso.; In this paper we present the traditional (which we call canonical) model
used to explain self-deception and show some of the problems it has to
face. Then we present a different model known as the deflationary
model or the non-intentional model and defend it is a better alternative
to explain self-deception than the former. Finally, we present a problem the deflationary model has to face and that, when treated, leads to
new considerations about the model and to see it under a new light.
This problem, however, does not debilitate the model but makes it
stronger in the end. We defend that the problem arises from the fact
that the model has been thought on the light of perceptual evidence but
not including social interactions. The inclusion of such interactions
makes it necessary to modify slightly the model in order to accommodate them and the behavior of the self-deceived agents. In each of the
sections of this paper we resort to literary examples that depict the essential characteristics of each case.

relationships. La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas, and its
opera version, La Traviata, show how the play between knowledge and
ignorance with respect to other, particularly to the feminine character,
is central in the formation of subjects. Despite the cultural distance, the
specific case of this narrative typifies properly the way in which identities are built on systemic ignorances.

¿Transgredir el canon en el siglo XXI?
Achugar, Hugo
XXI “transgredir el canon”.; This essay poses a proposal about the organization of a system of legitimation or canonization of literary production as an instrument of
analysis. The basic idea is the configuration of the so called “Literary
Apparatus of Canonization” (LAC) during modernity and the historic
emergence of market. Also, the existence of a unique canon is challenged, and the idea of multiple and simultaneous canons is proposed.
On the hand, the previous argumentations allow to think on the current
transformation of the “Literary Apparatus of Canonization” in relation
to the impact Internet on literary critic thinking and the possible displacement of traditional intellectual’s centrality and/or the educational
apparatus. Finally, this new scenario is discussed on relation with the
chances of what will mean in XIX Century the idea of “transgressing
the canon”.

proyectos intelectuales en el siglo XXI.; This article proposes, in the first place, a reflection on the terms
from which humanism is recovered by Sloterdijk, as one of the
key elements for the diagnosis of Postmodernity. Secondly, it focuses on Sloterdijk’s biopolitical ideas about the social immunity
and anthropogenesis, which is a topic related to the idea of
posthumanism. With these objectives, the propositions of
Sloterdijk are connected with the series of some points related to
the role of humanism in the articulation of post-colonial societies
with the new global (dis)order. This topic is crucial for the redefinition of intellectual projects in the 21st century.

El fracaso de Latinoamérica
Beverley, John
Failed in relation to what? Failed
in relation to China and India in particular, in the period that extends
from the end of World War two to the present. If in 1945, Latin America as a whole, especially Brazil, Argentina and the Southern Cone, and
Mexico, was somewhat ahead of China and India, it is now clearly behind, in terms of demographic and economic growth, on the one hand,
and status or influence in the world, on the other. This failure can be
observed in seven topics: the question of coloniality, the role of the
United States, Catholicism, the Baroque as a cultural signifier for Latin
America, the nation-state, Socialism, and the Hispanic or Latino community in the United States.
