nsiones culturales de Hofstede.; Internet has become a global medium, so the Web site design should express the content for all cultures. Although a website can be hosted in Spain, users worldwide can surf on it. Culture could have a great influence on the effectiveness of marketing efforts in this new medium. The usability is related with the Web design but do different cultures perceived the same level of it? The Web site structure could moderate attitudes towards it and intentions to use it. Two different cultures, Spain and United Kingdom, are compared in this research, finding differences in Hofstede’s dimensions between Internet users and no-users in both countries. Control and risk perceived act in a different ways that another investigators found. And there isn’t significant differences in perceived usability, so it could be said that there is merging a virtual culture values that have to be studied.

Website design as moderating factor of online user behavior

It is widely assumed that online user behaviour is mainly utilitarian, although hedonic motivations such as enjoyment have also been found by recent research to have a marked influence on such behaviour. The present study explores the influence of website design (utilitarian motivation) on online user behaviour, in the context of a site promoting a tourist destination. The results underline the importance of utilitarian aspects for the effectiveness of online information-processing and the formation of perceived risk online. It is recommended that websites should reflect this type of motivation so as to make browsing useful for the online consumer.

Alcántara Pilar, Juan Miguel; Barrio García, Salvador Del
This work analyzes whether the cultural values of a language influence when processing information from a website and its effect on the perceived risk online, on the development of positive attitudes toward a Web site and loyalties on the service offered therein. In order to achieve this objective and test the proposed hypotheses, a between-subjects experimental design was chosen, using one independent variable namely with two level: processing language (Spanish vs. English). The final sample comprised 264 Spanish users. Half the sample browsed in Spanish, and the other half in English. The findings show the moderating effect of the language and its cultural values on the perceived risk online and on the attitudes toward a Web site.

The objective of this paper is to verify the findings obtained by King (2010) in relation to cultural frameworks that are associated with language and apply it to the TAM. In this research we used a sample of 228 users. 119 of them browsed in a web site in Spanish, and the rest did it in English. The findings showed that the language used moderates information processing on the Internet.
