Los chuetas en tres novelas españolas: Los muertos mandan (Vicente Blasco Ibáñez), Primera memoria (Ana María Matute) y Dins el darrer blau (Carme Riera) Holgado Cristeto, Belén El objeto de este artículo es analizar la imagen de los chuetas en tres novelas españolas de tres épocas diferentes: Los muertos mandan (1908), de Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Primera Memoria (1959), de Ana Mª Matute y Dins el darrer blau 1 (1994), de Carme Riera. Una cuestión llamativa es que los prejuicios se han prolongado hasta nuestros días, no por el hecho de ser descendientes de judíos, sino por ser chuetas, lo cual nos retrotrae a los acontecimientos sucedidos en el siglo XVII, cuando tuvieron lugar los célebres autos de fe.; The article analyses the image of the Chueta in three Spanish novels from three different periods: The Dead Command (1908) by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, School of the sun (1959) by Ana Mª Matute and Dins el darrer blau (1994) by Carme Riera. One striking issue that emerges in the analysis is that the prejudice that has extended to the present day is not due to the fact that the Chuetas are descendants of Jews, but because they are Chuetas. This, in turn, harks back to the events of the seventeenth century and the infamous autos-da-fé.
