This distribution can be used for a precise determination of the top-quark mass since gluon radiation depends on the mass of the quarks. The experimental analysis is based on proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC with a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb−1. The selected events were identified using the lepton+jets top-quark-pair decay channel, where lepton refers to either an electron or a muon. The observed distribution is compared to a theoretical prediction at next-to-leading-order accuracy in quantum chromodynamics using the pole-mass scheme. With this method, the measured value of the top-quark pole mass, mpole t , is: mpole t = 173.7 ± 1.5 (stat.) ± 1.4 (syst.) +1.0 −0.5 (theory) GeV. This result represents the most precise measurement of the top-quark pole mass to date.}, organization = {CERN for the very successful operation of the LHC}, organization = {ANPCyT, Argentina}, organization = {YerPhI, Armenia}, organization = {ARC, Australia}, organization = {BMWF and FWF, Austria}, organization = {ANAS, Azerbaijan}, organization = {SSTC, Belarus}, organization = {CNPq and FAPESP, Brazil}, organization = {NSERC, NRC and CFI, Canada}, organization = {CONICYT, Chile}, organization = {CAS, MOST and NSFC, China}, organization = {COLCIENCIAS, Colombia}, organization = {MSMT CR, MPO CR and VSC CR, Czech Republic}, organization = {DNRF, DNSRC and Lundbeck Foundation, Denmark}, organization = {EPLANET, ERC and NSRF, European Union}, organization = {IN2P3-CNRS, CEA-DSM/IRFU, France}, organization = {GNSF, Georgia}, organization = {BMBF, DFG, HGF, MPG and AvH Foundation, Germany}, organization = {GSRT and NSRF, Greece}, organization = {ISF, MINERVA, GIF, I-CORE and Benoziyo Center, Israel}, organization = {INFN, Italy}, organization = {MEXT and JSPS, Japan}, organization = {CNRST, Morocco}, organization = {FOM and NWO, Netherlands}, organization = {BRF and RCN, Norway}, organization = {MNiSW and NCN, Poland}, organization = {GRICES and FCT, Portugal}, organization = {MNE/IFA, Romania}, organization = {MES of Russia and ROSATOM, Russian Federation}, organization = {JINR}, organization = {MSTD, Serbia}, organization = {MSSR, Slovakia}, organization = {ARRS and MIZˇS, Slovenia}, organization = {DST/NRF, South Africa}, organization = {MINECO, Spain}, organization = {RC and Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden}, organization = {SER, SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland}, organization = {NSC, Taiwan}, organization = {TAEK, Turkey}, organization = {STFC, the Royal Society and Leverhulme Trust, United Kingdom}, organization = {DOE and NSF, United States of America}, organization = {Crucial computing support from all WLCG partners}, publisher = {Springer}, keywords = {Hadron-Hadron Scattering}, keywords = {Top physics}, title = {Determination of the top-quark pole mass using t¯t + 1-jet events collected with the ATLAS experiment in 7TeV pp collisions}, doi = {10.1007/JHEP10(2015)121}, author = {Aad, G. and Aguilar Saavedra, Juan Antonio and Atlas Collaboration, /}, }
