With women still underrepresented, gender homophily could hinder collaboration. Additionally, it may result in less gender-diverse co-author teams, potentially diminishing research quality. Our findings reveal that gender homophily does not limit collaboration or reduce output quality. Merely increasing the number of women in Economics may not suffice to address entrenched gender disparities.}, organization = {Fundación Ramón Areces, project XVIII National Competition for the Allocation of Research Grants in Social Sciences}, organization = {Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain, Grants PID2022-142943NB-I00 and PID2019-111708GA-100, funded by MICIU/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033 and, ERDF/EU}, organization = {Austrian Science Fund (FWF) V 991-G}, organization = {Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Granada / CBUA.}, publisher = {Elsevier}, keywords = {Homophily}, keywords = {Collaboration}, keywords = {Diversit}, title = {Gender homophily, collaboration, and output}, doi = {10.1016/j.jebo.2024.03.027}, author = {Ductor Gómez, Lorenzo and Prummer, Anja}, }
