The cross sections are measured as functions of the photon transverse energy in different regions of photon pseudorapidity. The photons are required to be isolated by means of a fixed-cone method with two different cone radii. The dependence of the inclusive-photon production on the photon isolation is investigated by measuring the fiducial cross sections as functions of the isolation-cone radius and the ratios of the differential cross sections with different radii in different regions of photon pseudorapidity. The results presented in this paper constitute an improvement with respect to those published by ATLAS earlier: the measurements are provided for different isolation radii and with a more granular segmentation in photon pseudorapidity that can be exploited in improving the determination of the proton parton distribution functions. These improvements provide a more in-depth test of the theoretical predictions. Next-to-leading-order QCD predictions from JETPHOX and SHERPA and next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD predictions from NNLOJET are compared to the measurements, using several parameterisations of the proton parton distribution functions. The measured cross sections are well described by the fixed-order QCD predictions within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties in most of the investigated phase-space region.}, organization = {CEA-DRF}, organization = {Cantons of Bern and Geneva}, organization = {DNSRC IN2P3-CNRS}, organization = {EU-ESF}, organization = {GenT Programmes Generalitat Valenciana, Spain}, organization = {La Caixa Banking Foundation}, organization = {MIZŠ}, organization = {MNE}, organization = {Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021}, organization = {PROMETEO}, organization = {RGC}, organization = {UNCE SCI/013}, organization = {Wallenberg Foundation}, organization = {National Science Foundation}, organization = {U.S. Department of Energy}, organization = {Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung}, organization = {CRC Health Group}, organization = {Canarie}, organization = {H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions}, organization = {Multiple Sclerosis Scientific Research Foundation}, organization = {CERN}, organization = {Compute Canada}, organization = {Göran Gustafssons Stiftelser}, organization = {Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada}, organization = {National Research Council Canada}, organization = {Canada Foundation for Innovation}, organization = {Science and Technology Facilities Council}, organization = {Leverhulme Trust}, organization = {European Research Council}, organization = {European Cooperation in Science and Technology}, organization = {Australian Research Council}, organization = {National Stroke Foundation}, organization = {Neurosurgical Research Foundation}, organization = {Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft}, organization = {Minerva Foundation}, organization = {Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft}, organization = {Agence Nationale de la Recherche}, organization = {Japan Society for the Promotion of Science}, organization = {Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology}, organization = {Schweizerischer Nationalfonds zur Förderung der Wissenschaftlichen Forschung}, organization = {Danmarks Grundforskningsfond}, organization = {Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo}, organization = {National Natural Science Foundation of China}, organization = {Ministerstvo Školství, Mládeže a Tělovýchovy}, organization = {Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia}, organization = {Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung}, organization = {Chinese Academy of Sciences}, organization = {Austrian Science Fund}, organization = {Generalitat de Catalunya}, organization = {Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China}, organization = {Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica}, organization = {Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek}, organization = {Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft}, organization = {Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico}, organization = {Nella and Leon Benoziyo Center for Neurological Diseases, Weizmann Institute of Science}, organization = {Israel Science Foundation}, organization = {Instituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare}, organization = {Narodowe Centrum Nauki}, organization = {Javna Agencija za Raziskovalno Dejavnost RS}, organization = {Ministarstvo Prosvete, Nauke i Tehnološkog Razvoja}, organization = {Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación}, organization = {Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique}, organization = {Staatssekretariat für Bildung, Forschung und Innovation}, organization = {Horizon 2020}, organization = {British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund}, organization = {European Regional Development Fund}, organization = {Defence Science Institute}, organization = {Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej}, organization = {nstitutul de Fizică Atomică}, organization = {Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo}, organization = {Royal Society of South Australia}, organization = {Irish Rugby Football Union}, publisher = {Springer Nature}, keywords = {Hadron-Hadron Scattering}, title = {Inclusive-photon production and its dependence on photon isolation in pp collisions at p s = 13 TeV using 139 fb−1 of ATLAS data}, doi = {10.1007/JHEP07(2023)086}, author = {Atlas Collaboration and Aguilar Saavedra, Juan Antonio and Rodríguez Chala, Mikael}, }
