abstract = {La crítica sobre el relato “El lobo, el bosque y el hombre nuevo” y la película
Fresa y chocolate ha hecho énfasis en la confrontación entre el “hombre
nuevo” y el homosexual marginado, pero no ha reparado en un matiz que
otorga profundidad y extensión a la película por encima del texto: el papel y la
significación de las dos mujeres protagonistas, Vivian y Nancy. La primera
aparece brevemente en el cuento de Senel Paz, mientras Nancy es una creación
de los guionistas, que simboliza la generación nacida antes del triunfo revolucionario.
Vivian, más joven y con un rol más amplio en la película, encarna la
generación de quienes nacieron dentro del proceso revolucionario. La relevancia
de esas dos figuras hace quebrar la tendencia al binarismo hombre nuevo /
homosexual con el que se plantea el relato, y aporta claves para interpretar la
evolución de la sociedad cubana de la segunda mitad del siglo XX.},

Strawberry and chocolate has emphasized the confrontation between the
“new man” and the marginalized homosexual, but there has been no attention
to a nuance that gives depth and extension to the film above the text: the role
and significance of the two leading women, Vivian and Nancy. The first appears
briefly in Senel Paz's short story, while Nancy is a creation of the screenwriters,
symbolizing the generation born before the revolutionary triumph.
Vivian, younger and with a larger role in the film, embodies the generation of
those who they were born within the revolutionary process. The relevance of
these two figures breaks the tendency to binary new man / homosexual with
which the story is presented, and provides keys to interpreting the evolution of
Cuban society in the second half of the 20th century.},
