abstract = {Este texto pretende contribuir al conocimiento de la historia rural andaluza del siglo xix y de principios del siglo xx. A partir de un estudio de caso, la historia de una comunidad rural de la Alta Andalucía (Montefrío), rastrea el comportamiento demográfico, económico y social de grupos, familias e individuos. Y maneja varias hipótesis: primera, el cambio económico decimonónico tuvo origen en factores sociales e institucionales; segunda, el crecimiento económico y el demográfico generaron desigualdad y, finalmente, provocaron una crisis social; tercera, en ese marco, la migración desempeñó un papel fundamental como estabilizador socio-demográfico; cuarta, la migración no fue homogénea, sino que respondió a distintas lógicas de reproducción social. El texto se estructura en cuatro partes: la primera analiza la evolución demográfica, la segunda plantea los fundamentos del crecimiento económico decimonónico, la tercera aborda la crisis del periodo intersecular y la cuarta se detiene en el desenlace migratorio de las primeras décadas del novecientos.},
abstract = {This article aims to contribute to furthering knowledge of Andalusian rural history of the nineteenth and the early twentieth centuries. Based on a case study, the history of a rural community in Alta Andalucía (Montefrío), this paper traces the demographic, economic and social behaviour of groups, families, and individuals. Several hypotheses are considered. First,
nineteenth-century economic change originated in social and institutional factors. Second, economic, and demographic growth generated inequality, causing a social crisis. Third, migration played a fundamental role as a socio-demographic stabilizer within this framework. Fourth, migration was not homogeneous, but responded to different logics of social reproduction. The text is structured in four parts: the first one analyses demographic evolution; the second one raises the foundations of nineteenth-century economic growth; the third one addresses the crisis of the intersecular period; and the fourth one pays attention to the migration outcome of the first decades of the twentieth century.},
