Bassanite nanorods, 120-200 nm in length, with the highest specific surface area reported so far (54 m(2) g(-1)) and enhanced reactivity, are obtained at 78 degrees C and 1 atm. Such nanoparticles may find application in several fields, including biomaterials, drug delivery, and cultural heritage conservation.}, organization = {Spanish Government European Commission PRE2019-090256 RTI2018-099565-B-I00}, organization = {Junta de Andalucia RNM-179}, organization = {University of Granada, UGR UCE-PP2016-05}, publisher = {Royal Society of Chemistry}, title = {Synthesis of high surface area CaSO4 center dot 0.5H(2)O nanorods using calcium ethoxide as precursor}, doi = {10.1039/d1cc02014e}, author = {Burgos Ruiz, Miguel and Pelayo Punzano, Gloria and Ruiz Agudo, Encarnación and Elert, Kerstin and Rodríguez Navarro, Carlos Manuel}, }
