Nāŷiya, dos nobles de la última etapa de la ŷāhiliyya que tuvieron cierta implicación en la costumbre del wa’d, lo que comúnmente se conoce como la práctica preislámica de enterrar vivas a las niñas recién nacidas. Qays se retrata como un hombre que se vio obligado a cometer el wa’d en cierto período de su vida para salvaguardar su honor. En las antípodas está Ṣa‗ṣa‗a, el salvador de las maw’ūdāt, las niñas destinadas a someterse a esa práctica. Para lograr los objetivos planteados, se ha realizado un recorrido exhaustivo por las fuentes más relevantes, de las cuales se han extraído todas las narraciones afines. Estas han sido analizadas, traducidas y clasificadas según su contenido. Los resultados de esta labor, en su conjunto, contribuyen a un mayor conocimiento de la costumbre del wa’d y arrojan luz sobre aquellos mecanismos que se utilizan en las fuentes para convertir los actos de Qays b. ‗Āṣim y Ṣa‗ṣa‗a b. Nāŷiya en representaciones simbólicas del mal y del bien en el contexto de la época preislámica.}, abstract = {The aim of the present article is to analyze, compare and translate accounts referring to Qays b. ‗Āṣim and Ṣa‗ṣa‗a b. Nājiya, two noblemen of the last stage of the jāhiliyya who were involved in the custom of wa’d, the alleged pre-Islamic practice of burying female infants alive at birth. Qays is depicted as a man who finds himself obliged to commit wa’d in a certain period of his life in order to safeguard his honour. In the opposite position is Ṣa‗ṣa‗a, who becomes the saviour of the maw’ūdāt, baby girls on the verge of being buried alive. To achieve the proposed objectives, pertinent sources have been thoroughly examined and relevant excerpts extracted. These texts have been analysed, translated, and classified according to their content.
