abstract = {En 1847 se desarrolla en España el primer “Plan General de Alumbrado Marítimo de las Costas
y Puertos de España e Islas Adyacentes”, cuyo objetivo fue establecer una red de faros a lo
largo de nuestras costas. Mediante dicho Plan, se erigen ciento cinco nuevos faros con el
objeto de garantizar una señal de referencia en tierra para el navegante en su derrota por las
costas españolas. En 1851 se crea el cuerpo de Torreros, cuya labor era vigilar el
funcionamiento de los faros, mantenerlos en perfecto estado de servicio y ejercer labores de
vigilancia o aviso. La maquinaria y la vivienda convivían en un mismo espacio, disponiendo de
locales propios e independientes, pero también de lugares comunes. La yuxtaposición de
ambos programas funcionales ofrece un gran número de soluciones residenciales, supeditadas
al funcionamiento de la “fábrica de señalización”: el Faro.},
abstract = {In 1847 Spain’s first “General plan of Maritime illumination of the coasts and harbors of Spain
and its surrounding isles” was developed, which aimed to establish a network of lighthouses
along our coastlines. As a result of said plan, a hundred and five new lighthouses were erected
with the purpose of guaranteeing a reference symbol on land for the navigator en route along
the Spanish coastlines. In 1851 the Body of Lighthouse keepers was created, whose task
consisted in observing the correct functioning of the lighthouse as well as maintaining the light in
a perfect state of service and in exercising surveillance and give out warnings. The machinery
and the housing where allocated in the same space, allowing for separate and independent
rooms as well as common rooms. The juxtaposition of both functional plans offers a great
number of residential solutions being subjected to the functioning of the “signal factory”: the
lighthouse.},
