Following the pattern of English gardens and modify-ing the trace of the Frenchified former palatial garden, this Park highlights the counterpoint between the set of built ele-ments (especially the Schloss) and constructed objects (bridges, cottages, sculptures, ruins...), against natural elements (river, vegetation, slopes...). Goethe reflected this relationship through different designs for over 40 years. Three main veins set this sequence. First, the Star Bridge (Sternbrücke, 1653-1658) as a link between the Schloss and its environment, displayed in several perspectives between 1780 and 1794. Secondly, his home and garden, Great Duke’s gifts, as idealization of rural architecture inserted in the scattered landscape locations. Finally, the Römische Haus by the archi-tect A. Arens (1791-1797, with the participation of the writer) evokes the picturesque Italian landscape, imagined and drawn by Goethe during his stay in Italy (where, in fact, he met the architect) and which, thereafter, emerges in his drawings of this building made between 1794 and 1808. Three stages and three drawn interpretations of built landscape in Ilm Park: the bridge, as a manifestation of technical control over nature, the traditional housing as an example of German landscape, and the landscape environment and the classical allusion represented by the Roman house.}, publisher = {Editorial Universidad de Granada}, keywords = {Paisaje}, keywords = {Ciudad}, keywords = {Goethe}, keywords = {Landscape}, keywords = {City}, title = {El paisaje en la ciudad.
